My name is MINCE PIE!

MINCE PIE hails from the Northern community of Pikangikum and came south to find his forever family. He’s had his first two sets of vaccines, Revolution flea and tick treatment and been deemed a healthy boy by his vet. He was found wandering around in the community all alone so we have no information on either parent and although he’s very much a Husky, we don’t know what other breeds are in him. That also means we really have no idea of the size he’ll grow to be. This young fella is all Husky and we are looking for a Husky experienced owner for him. He’s very loving and good natured but definitely has a stubborn Husky streak to him. He’s very playful and loves to be surrounded by many toys to play with including chewy ones like Nyla bones. He loves a frozen carrot to chew on and ice cubes to chew on for teething.

MINCE PIE is crate trained and sleeps quietly in it at night without a peep. When it comes to being in their during the day though (which isn’t very often) he’ll carry on for a bit to let you know he’s not happy being in there but will eventually settle down. He’s working on house training and it’s still a work in progress. He loves to go on walks and he goes regularly as he has lots of puppy energy to burn off. He‘s fostered with another puppy, several dogs so he’s well socialized with dogs and loves to play with all of them. He’s fostered with a cat and several kittens and the funny thing is, rather than chase them he just sits quietly and watches them interact with each other. He should do well with a cat in the home as long as it’s a dog savvy cat and as always we recommend a slow, monitored introduction between them while the dog is kept leashed. We do require children to be aged 6 years of age and up plus they should be kind, gentle and loving towards animals. 

MINCE PIE’s ideal family would be an active one with a love and understanding of Huskies and all that comes with the breed. Plus be an active one that loves to go on big walks and hikes in the woods. He does well in a vehicle so will always be up for a drive, especially if it leads to an adventure for him. We always recommend a slow, monitored introduction to other animals in the home while the new dog is kept leashed. He should do well as an only pet in the home provided be’s not left alone for long periods of time and isn’t crated in day for extended periods of time either. He does require a fenced-in yard so he can be kept safe and also have somewhere to run around and play.

Puppies are cute, playful and fun but also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We do need his adopter to be in agreement to attend puppy/obedience training to help him be the best boy possible. His neuter is included in his adoption fee and his potential adopter must be in agreement to have him neutered by the time he’s 9 months of age or 60lbs (whichever comes first.) The surgery will be at the Barrie SPCA but you can use your own vet if preferred and we’ll reimburse you what we would’ve paid for it there. In order for the rescue to do so we need the neuter requirements to still be followed plus a copy of the procedure invoice and a photo of him (preferably in his cone) in order to do the reimbursement. We do post the picture on our fb page along with other pets that were “fixed” in the same week.
