Pie is an approx. 8yo, 10lb. male Yorkshire Terrier who found himself as a scared, matted stray in a shelter. He was very happy once he was out of the shelter environment and in a loving foster home, but was still leery about trusting people. His foster mom has been very patient with him, not putting pressure on him, and giving him time to decompress. Pie is learning that getting pets is a good thing. He is doing very well with going potty outside as long as he is taken out often, and he has begun to let his foster mom know when he needs to go out, as well as when it is his dinner time. He has his open crate available for his safe space. He was very scared at first of being leashed and is still learning, but is doing much better with allowing to harnes, but it's best if he has a small fenced space in which to go potty. Pie hasn't shown interest in toys yet, but takes treats gently which help him with learning new things. His activity level is low to moderate, enjoying quiet time in a comfy bed. He ignores other dogs and although he hasn't been around cats while with our rescue, we believe he would probably ignore them too. Due to his small size and timid nature, an adult-only home is required. Pie needs a patient adopter who will give him all the time he needs to settle in. We don't know what he has been through in his past, but we want to make sure his future is filled with patience, love and routine. If you live in the Central Florida/Orlando area and believe you have the perfect home for Pie, please complete an application and tell us more about you.
