My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Bill & Ted! Bill and Ted are a bonded pair who have been together since they were babies, and they will not be separated. Theyve been through a lot together and have shown remarkable resilience. Theyre happiest, and most confident, when theyre side by side. Bill (black, 4) and Ted (apricot, 5) came to our rescue in August thanks to a Good Samaritan who stepped in to help when their previous owner was facing an unsafe situation and needed temporary support while navigating her next steps. While in our care, both boys received all of their needed medical care, including neuters, vaccinations, and microchips. Throughout the past several months, we remained in close contact with their original owner with the shared hope of eventual reunification. Its rare for a rescue like ours to take in dogs without the goal of adoption, but we were incredibly fortunate to have two amazing foster families who committed to their long-term care. Sadly, despite everyones best efforts and intentions (including their owners) it has become clear that reunification is no longer in Bill and Teds best interest due to ongoing circumstances. With love and agreement from all involved, we are now seeking a permanent, stable home where these boys can truly thrive. Ted, the apricot-colored gentleman, is 5 years old and a total love bug. He adores full-body pets, cuddles, and human affection. Hes the more confident and dominant of the two and is fully trained, including basic commands. Bill, the 4-year-old black pug, is affectionately known by his foster mom as a hunk of chaos. Hes loving, excitable, cuddly, and a bit more shy, with a big personality that shines once he feels comfortable. Hes almost fully trained and eager to keep learning. Both boys are crate trained, wonderful with kids, and an absolute joy to be around. If youre looking to change two lives (and your own), please consider opening your heart and home to this special bonded pair.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

After an application is received, we will reach out to schedule an interview. If the applicant is a renter, we will require landlord approval. If the applicant has a yard, we will require a digital walkthrough of the fence line. Once approved, the adopter is eligible to connect with the foster of the dog they're interested in for a meet and greet. If all goes well, the adopter can take the dog home!

More about this rescue

Bay Area Pug Project (BAPP) is more than just a rescue - it’s a movement.

California suffers from a backyard breeding epidemic, and pugs are sadly one of the outputs. Pug rescues across the nation come to our state to save pugs from unsafe, unwanted, and undesirable situations, and there can never be enough help to tackle this crisis.

Founded by a group of experienced and passionate volunteers, BAPP was born from a shared love of pugs and a desire to build a strong, informed community around the breed. We believe that true rescue goes beyond saving dogs—it means educating the public, advocating for responsible ownership, and collaborating with other groups for maximum impact.

We’re dedicated to supporting brachycephalic breed enthusiasts and the communities where neglect or limited education are common, offering resources and guidance to promote better care and health outcomes.

Pugs are more than cute snorts and curly tails—they’re complex little souls who deserve to be understood and cared for by informed and pug-obsessed homes like ours. Join us in making a difference.
