Bay Area Pug Project

Bay Area Pug Project (BAPP) is more than just a rescue - it’s a movement. California suffers from a backyard breeding epidemic, and pugs are sadly one of the outputs. Pug rescues across the nation come to our state to save pugs from unsafe, unwanted, and undesirable situations, and there can never be enough help to tackle this crisis. Founded by a group of experienced and passionate volunteers, BAPP was born from a shared love of pugs and a desire to build a strong, informed community around the breed. We believe that true rescue goes beyond saving dogs—it means educating the public, advocating for responsible ownership, and collaborating with other groups for maximum impact. We’re dedicated to supporting brachycephalic breed enthusiasts and the communities where neglect or limited education are common, offering resources and guidance to promote better care and health outcomes.
