My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Cherry!
Cherry is a 2-year-old black German Shepherd mix and one very special mama. She recently welcomed 11 beautiful puppies in late November and has been an incredible, attentive mom to her little crew. Her puppies will begin meeting adopters starting January 10th, and Cherry will also be ready to start her own search for a forever home at that time.

Cherry is an absolute sweetheart with every human she has met. She has a gentle, loving personality and truly enjoys people—one of those dogs who makes you feel instantly welcome.

Because Cherry has been focused on caring for her puppies, we haven’t yet been able to fully evaluate her with other dogs, nor have we confirmed her crate or house-training status. That said, nothing in her behavior so far has raised concerns, and her foster reports she has been calm, affectionate, and easy to handle.

Cherry has spent the last few months being the best mom she could be—now it’s her turn to be spoiled in a home of her own. If you’re looking for a loving, people-friendly companion with a heart as big as her paws, Cherry may be the perfect match.

If you are interested in adopting Cherry, please submit an inquiry directly to Greater Charlotte SPCA by visiting charlottespca.org/adopt. The adoption amount is a suggested donation of $200 to $300 dollars based on the pet's age.

**Because our rescue is composed entirely of volunteers, local applications will take precedence. We will accept out of town applications, but any family is responsible for coming to Charlotte to complete a meet and greet. All out of town applicants will also have to be willing to drive to Charlotte to pick up the pet as soon as they are approved to adopt. **

Additional adoption info

After you have found your new best friend, please read our adoption FAQ then submit our online adoption interest form at www.charlottespca.org/adopt

The Greater Charlotte SPCA does not own or operate a shelter facility. Volunteers foster all animals in their homes until adopted. Many of our animals come from high-kill shelters and other rescue situations. We find that fostering gives us the opportunity to assess the animal's personality and needs. This allows us to best match them with the right adoptive family. Also, we are able to provide all care and medical needs for our animals. It enables the animal to develop a happy frame of mind before adoption. We have many wonderful animals looking for a forever home.

Go meet their pets

We hold adoption events every weekend around the Greater Charlotte area. Check our website www.charlottespca.org for upcoming event details. If you would like to meet a particular animal, please contact us so that we can arrange for the foster to bring the animal to the event.
