My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Jovan was brought in by a community member on October 2, 2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Jovan is a distinguished senior gentleman and a true gentle giant. He came to us as a stray, so we don't know much about his past - but what we do know is that he adores calm spaces, cozy naps and sunbathing like it's an art form. He loves being pet and will happily lean in for all the affection you're willing to give. He's done well interacting with other pups in our care and seems to be potty-trained. Like many seniors, he's shown some possible signs of arthritis in our care, but nothing gets in the way of his ability to appreciate the simple joys in life. Jovan is looking for a peaceful home where he can take things slow, soak up the sunshine and be your loyal, low-key companion. If you've got a sunny spot and a soft bed, Jovan is ready to settle in and steal your heart.

At SDHS:
Jovan has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. He is now ready for his new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
