My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Adoption Fee: $475

When available, all animals are fixed in accordance with Colorado law, up to date on vaccines (may need boosters), and microchipped!

What we know: Local owner surrender of two dogs. Owners were no longer able to care for them. Came with the name Nana (does not answer to it) and aged about 2 years old.

From the foster: Ivy was given her name because just like the plant, she is also a resilient pup who has overcome so much in her short little life. Just like the plant, she is strong and can overcome hardship and thrive with the right home. This new year will bring her a fresh start with a family who appreciates her for the wonderful pup she is!

Eating: She eats like a bird. Little bits at a time. We are experimenting with foods she will eat. As of now, she has had and upset tummy as she is adjusting to her foster home. She will eat dog treats and a mixture of rice and ground turkey. We will have more of an update at the event! Just know she is pretty finicky about food so if you plan on taking her home, brown some ground turkey and mix with rice as she transitions one more time to her furever home.

Crate: She would rather not be in her crate. But she sleeps in it just fine at night. Her crate is covered with a blanket and she calms down quickly. When my other pup gets up to go potty (around 4:00) I let her out too and then we snuggle on the couch. She would most likely rather sleep snuggled next to you in bed.

Toys/chewing: Ivy has not expressed interest in toys or chew toys.

Dogs: Ivy tolerates other dogs. As of now, she is more interested in snuggling with her human. She will also snuggle with the other dogs in the house. She seems to just want to be a puppy magnet. She is literally at our side all day.

Potty Training: She has only had accidents when she was new to our home and when she couldn’t hold her upset tummy while we transitioned her to her new food (referencing her food preferences above).

Overall, Ivy is a terrific companion. She would be fine as an only pup, or a companion for the right puppy. She is truly a pup that will need time to come out of her shell. Are you her patient hero? She will make a perfect puppy for the right family. Despite all she has been through, she’s such a happy pup and has so much love to give.

More about this rescue

Colorado Puppy Rescue is a 501(c)3 no-kill rescue for young puppies. We accept puppies from kill-shelters in southern CO, NM,TX, OK and KS. Most of our puppies are mixed mutts under 12 weeks old, some are as old as 6 months. We do not have a shelter. All of our puppies stay in foster homes so the only time they are available for adoption is at our adoption events. We average 20 puppies a week and update our website with available puppies Friday afternoons.
