My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Stormy has had a journey to our shelter under special circumstances. Stormy came to us with his sister, Skye in October 2025 and then again in December 2025.

In October, Stormy and Skye were brought to our shelter after an incident involving ducks and chickens. As it turns out, they too like the taste of chicken and duck, much like some humans. Because they were involved with an unprovoked attack regarding livestock on a neighboring farm, they were received to our shelter as 'impound dogs' and categorized as 'dangerous' dogs.

The declaration was appealed and they are now 'potentially dangerous' dogs simply because of the incident involving the poultry. However, this does not impede their ability to be wonderful dogs for a family. They may not be great dogs to have around if you have free-range poultry but their personalities and disposition are anything but potentially dangerous.

Stormy & Skye were returned to their owners in November 2025 and resided with them until late December 2025 where they were then abandoned at a rental property. We were able to take custody of Stormy & Skye shortly thereafter.

Now, at no fault of his own, he is back at our shelter with Skye and is now looking for a new home. They are not a bonded pair - they can be adopted separately.

Stormy is a sweet and loving boy. He is handsome and enjoys people. He likes attention, loves to be pet and loves to be the first to greet people.
He likes treats, loves to be outdoors and loves to play. He is anything but aggressive or dangerous - he's very sweet.

He would greatly benefit from someone who is willing to give him lots of praise, positive attention and love. He does need some training - someone to work with him and teach him some boundaries and rules, such as not jumping on people. He is super smart though and we have no doubt at all that he will pick this up quickly.

Because he has a lot of power in his jump, he may not do great with younger kids who are more susceptible to being knocked over - at least until he is trained.

He is still young and is still learning to save his potty for outdoors. Occasionally he will have an accident or two. We are working on this with him.

Stormy will be neutered shortly and receive his rabies vaccination. He is up to date on his distemper and bordetella vaccinations. He has received his latest monthly dose of flea & tick preventative and will be tested shortly for heart worm, Ehrlichia Canis, Lyme's and Anaplasma (4DX).

Stormy came to us with Skye and the two have done well together. We do not know how he would do with other dogs as this is something we do not test at the shelter due to insurance limitations. Stormy does not seem to mind the other dogs in the shelter though. We do not know how he would do with cats.

Stormy just needs the right people to come - once and for all. Celebrate him, love him and encourage him - he deserves the best.

Additional adoption info

We are a donation based operation located in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. We fully vet, vaccinate and medicate animals that come into our care according to their age under the direction of our team of veterinarians: Riverside Vet Clinic. All dogs and cats receive a comprehensive wellness exam, distemper, rabies (if old enough), are dewormed & medicated for flea/tick/heartworms (as a preventative). Occassionally, we will receive a very sick animal who will require significantly more vetting than others and those vet fees are offset into the adoption fee. This would be why some animals are priced higher than others.
