My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you worried about the dwindling supply of twisty ties under your fridge?

So is Monte (Montecello) and he is excited to help restock your under-fridge supply!

Monte is a sweetheart of a chonk with big kitten energy. Everything is a toy – pencils, hair elastics, puzzle pieces, your toes, the dog…the list goes on. Be sure to hide anything of value so he doesn’t play with it. His playing is borderline mischievous; he loves to hide under things and jump out when you least expect it, but you can’t get made because he is so dang adorable!

Monte also loves to snuggle, especially at the end of the day when we’re relaxing on the couch. His purr is magnificent, his biscuits are top-notch, and he’ll try to hug your arm with his paws. He is also a bit strange as he likes to have his tummy rubbed and be held like a baby. Such a goofball!

Monte does well with our dog; however, the dog is super calm and enjoys playing with the cat (sometimes). I don’t know how well he would do with a hyper or reactive dog. Along these lines, I don’t know how well he will do with small children or loud households; he likes his peace. Personally, I think he just likes to be the center of attention.

Monte will make the right person very happy and you will never worry about your twisty ties again.

Go meet their pets

Our shelter is in north Fargo, near the old Yunker's Children's Museum, located just off of University Dr. on 28th Ave. N. We have open house hours from 4-7pm Tuesday-Friday, and 2-6pm on Saturdays. We have adoption events throughout the year, and you can find more information about those on our website at www.homewardonline.org or our Facebook page, www.facebook.com/HomewardAnimalShelter.

More about this shelter

We are a small shelter that rescues pets from local impounds whose time is up, and would otherwise be euthanized. We only have 9 dog kennels and 26 cat kennels; as many of 80% of the animals in our care are located in foster homes throughout the community at any time. We are very limited on space within our shelter and often, we can't take in owner surrenders, but will do our best to help give guidance about rehoming pets.

We offer several services besides adoption, including microchip clinics and pet-friendly rental housing listings.

We are the only shelter in the FM area that rescues both cats and dogs, so without our help, hundreds of dogs and cats would be euthanized each year in local pounds.
