My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Chickie — A Sweet Little Lovebug Looking for Her Safe Place
She is a shih tzu and is approximately 3 yo,
Fostered in Riverside, NJ

Chickie (affectionately called Luna) is a darling little girl with a gentle heart and a whole lot of love to give. She may be shy at first, but once she feels safe, her true personality shines — and it’s nothing short of adorable.

She is a total lap dog who loves cuddling, being pet, and staying close to her people. One of her favorite spots? Perched right on the back of the couch so she can be near you at all times.

Chickie is:
• Spayed
• Up to date on vaccines
• Microchipped
• House trained, puppy-pad trained & crate trained

Good With:
Dogs (small, calm dogs preferred)
Kids (calm and respectful)
Adults & elderly
Cats — unknown
Men — needs time and gentle introductions

Her Personality:
Chickie is sweet, spunky, and affectionate. She enjoys playful moments but is just as happy being your little couch buddy. Loud or sudden noises can make her nervous, and she does best with slow introductions, patience, and a predictable routine. Once she settles in, she becomes incredibly loyal and loving.

What She Loves:
• Cuddling (A LOT )
• Treats (very food-motivated!)
• Gentle playtime
• Being near her people
• Other small dogs for comfort and confidence

Ideal Home:
Chickie truly thrives with companionship and would do best in:
• A home with another small, calm dog (required)
• Someone home most of the day (also required)
• A quiet, patient household
• Apartment, condo, or house — quieter environments preferred
• A fenced yard is a bonus, but not required

She’s still learning leash skills and prefers relaxed time in the yard or cozy indoor life. She doesn’t shed much, barks only occasionally, and has no known bad behaviors.

In return for patience and love, Chickie will give you:
Endless cuddles, gentle kisses, loyal companionship, and a tiny shadow who just wants to be close to her people and her doggy friend.

Chickie’s forever home is out there — maybe it’s yours.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

Our rescues are with fosters on the east coast. The location in which the foster resides should be listed with each profile.

We are setting up some adoption events now, but are free for private meet and greets if you are interested in one of our adoptable pets!

More about this rescue

We have a passion for senior animals. To be able to save an animal from dying alone in a shelter, to give it a chance to live out its last days/months/years in a home with the proper care and love it deserves, instead of a cold shelter, is what drives us to keep going.

We obviously have financial needs that come with rescuing senior dogs, so we will be rescuing puppies and younger dogs as well so we are able to care for our seniors.
