Chulo was brought in to Manhattan Animal Care Center as a stray (no ID) after an ACO impound. He's a very easygoing, affectionate fellow who appreciates slow introductions to new people and places. He loves being near a friendly person, eagerly offers snuggles and belly rubs, and will happily show off tricks for attention and treats. He also benefits from daily activity to stay happy and healthy.
My Ideal Home
A home where someone can give him daily walks or playtime and offer calm, patient introductions to new people and situations. He does well with gentle handling and will thrive with consistent routines, positive reinforcement training, and a family who enjoys cuddles and light training sessions.
Good with Kids?
Yes - with supervision. Chulo enjoys human company but prefers slow, calm introductions, so he's best with children who are respectful and know how to interact gently with dogs.
Good with Other Pets?
Likely good with other dogs after proper, gradual introductions; his history with other animals is not fully known. Cat compatibility is unknown and would need careful, supervised introduction and assessment.
Leash Manners
Chulo is reported to be great on leash. He enjoys walks and responds well to a confident handler. Continued reinforcement of good leash manners will help him shine on outings.
Overall Health
Neutered and comfortable in the shelter environment. No major health concerns noted; he appears healthy overall and benefits from regular activity.
Behavior Determination
Great for most adopters - especially those who can provide daily exercise, patient introductions, and positive reinforcement training. He's social and affectionate but appreciates a calm, predictable approach to new people and places.
Other Fun Facts
Chulo is a bit of a little show-off - he knows "sit," "paw," and "other paw," and will happily demonstrate his tricks for belly rubs. Volunteers adore his snuggly nature and sunny disposition - he's a true charmer who loves attention.
A Volunteer Writes: One volunteer refers to Chulo as her "crush," and it's easy to see why! This dreamboat is so easy going -he's great on a leash, and is just so happy to be in the company of a friendly person who loves snuggling as much as he does. He will eagerly show of his tricks (not only "sit" and "paw" but "other paw!") in exchange for belly rubs. It's all a win/win with Chulo! We adore him and you know you will, too.
