Charlie is a delightful, fully vetted dog currently in foster care on Long Island, awaiting his forever home. This adorable 3-year-old doodle mix (some kind of poodle/canoodle blend) weighs just 28 pounds, making him a perfectly manageable size for most homes.
~ Charlie is an intelligent pup that has already mastered many important skills—he’s completely housebroken, rings bells when he needs to go outside, and is fully crate trained. Charlie sleeps peacefully through the night, whether in his crate or snuggled on the bed with you, and he’s a sweet cuddle bug who loves being close to his people.
~ He’s playful and energetic, enjoys fetch, adores romping in the snow, and serves as an enthusiastic neighborhood watch from his favorite window perch. While his original placement didn’t work out due to a resident dog’s preference for a home without Charlie- but through no fault on Charlie’s part. 🥺
~ He is a wonderful companion who would thrive in a home with a sweet kind dog who knows and wants to play respectfully, and maybe older children.
Charlie does have some areas where he’s still learning and growing.
• He’s working on polishing his leash manners and basic commands like sit, stay, and come.
• He can be sensitive about being picked up or touched in certain spots and may nip or show his teeth, particularly when having his ears cleaned, so he’ll need a patient family who understands his boundaries.
• He can be vocal during playtime, may jump up for attention or to investigate what’s cooking, and will bark at other dogs when he’s not ready to stop playing.
With consistency, positive reinforcement, and an understanding family, Charlie has all the potential to become an exceptional companion who brings joy, energy, and devotion to his new home.
