Itchy is a handsome one-year old male Shepherd mix who was brought to the HSOV on December 25, 2025 along with his beautiful female companion (Scratchy) after they were found on Pike Street in Marietta Ohio.
Itchy has a sleek black coat with tan highlights, rather long legs, a long fluffy tail, and an adorable Shepherd face with brown 'teddy bear' eyes, tan eyebrows, a slender muzzle, and large semi-erect ears.
This good-looking young man was a bit leery of the paparazzi's intentions when HSOV Volunteer Miley Kiggans accompanied him in the lobby of our shelter for photos on December 27th .. But he posed beautifully for pictures with Miley by his side and HSOV Kennel Tech Avah Day enticing him to look at the camera with an endless supply of 'good boy' treats (smile).
Itchy weighs 58 lbs.
In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Itchy and Scratchy were held for the mandatory three-day stray hold so that their family would have an opportunity to reclaim them with proof of ownership. Surprisingly (as of December 31st) nobody had called or came looking for them.

The HSOV Adoption application is available at our shelter during normal hours of operation and may also be completed online via our website.

Shelter management reviews applications for approval. If approved, potential adopters will be notified.

All HSOV dogs and cats must be spayed/neutered before being adopted and going to their new home.

Our adoption process includes an adoption application which must be completed and approved by our shelter management. We verify veterinarian references and also approval from landlords if the pet will be housed in rental property. Home visits may also be required prior to adoption. All dogs/cats must be spayed/neutered before being adopted.
Adoption fee for dogs is $150.00 which includes vaccinations, wormer, flea treatment, dog tag, microchip, and spay/neuter.
Adoption fee for cats is $40 and includes vaccinations, wormer, flea treatment, and spay/neuter. Most adult cats (and kittens over 3-months of age) have already been spayed/neutered.
Adoption fees for other species varies.
