FIRST STEPS: Please visit https://www.save-a-mutt.org/adoption-application/ to fill out an application - a Petfinder Inquiry is not the adoption process. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State - we are a local foster based rescue and no transport from another state required. :) Thanks!

Meet Fizzlepop! He's another dog that was pulled into our foster program when our local shelter had to evacuate due to flooding. The foster family thought he was such an amazing boy - they asked to keep him as a Save-A-Mutt dog!
Fizzle came in as a stray and nobody claimed him. He looks bigger than he is - at just over 50# he's a very nice size. But - what the heck is he. Cattle dog maybe, with a shepherd or husky? He's stuffing, his red coat and unique markings. Fizzle is probably around 18 months old and living in a home with other dogs. He's respectful of new dogs that he meets, but is active and enjoys play! The foster family has been introducing him to walks - he's just so smart and eager to learn. He is loose in house and is housebroken. He may need reminders in a new home.
His ideal home has a large fenced yard, and an active family willing to take him on walks and adventures. He LOVES balls... and is learning too get comfortable in the car.
This dog is neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated.
The 3-3-3 rule is a guideline for transitioning a rescue dog into its new home and helping it to settle in. It suggests that the first three days should be used for adjusting to its new surroundings, the next three weeks for training and bonding, and the first three months for continued socialization and training.
Each dog goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption.
We think he would benefit from training and we will require a training contract. It's simple, you pick a trainer in your area.
Adoption fee is $375. Save-A-Mutt is a registered 501c3 and half of your adoption fee may be tax deductible.
Save-A-Mutt is a foster based rescue, we do not have a facility to visit. Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sunday’s to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make exceptions only with the approval of the foster home.
Please note, we have approximately a 300 mile adoption radius - Portland OR area and Vancouver BC is the farthest north. We don’t ship dogs, once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up your puppy.

More about this rescue
Save-A-Mutt is dedicated to creating awareness about the number of adoptable dogs in shelters and rescues... and to find every dog its forever home! We do this by raising funds to A) cover the costs of transporting litters of puppies from high kill shelters to spay/neuter and adopt out; B) Focus on the welfare and final placement of Senior Dogs relinquished at area shelters, and C) assist and support local rescue groups. In addition, we hold a firm belief that 'Puppies aren't Products' and hope to stop the sale of puppies and kittens in Washington State pet stores.
