Meet Lucky – Your Future Best Friend (and Loyal Shadow!) Lucky is a one-year-old Shepherd/Australian Cattle Dog mix with the perfect blend of playful energy and devoted companionship. As of 02/20/26, Lucky has been waiting 319 days for a family to call his own — which officially makes him one of our Diamond Dogs. That means he's been overlooked far too long... but we know his perfect match is out there. After spending several months building confidence with RAC shelter staff & his foster family, Lucky has truly blossomed into an incredible dog who is ready for his forever home. This handsome boy is wonderfully well-rounded. He does great with other dogs, cats, and even livestock — especially chickens! He would thrive in a home with kids and loves having people to play with. When it's time to burn energy, Lucky is all in for toys, yard time, and fun. But when the day winds down? He's a professional at “Netflix and chill” and is more than happy to relax by your side. Lucky is housebroken, crate trained, and leash trained — he's put in the work and it shows. Because he forms strong bonds, he may need a few days to warm up in a new environment. But once he chooses you, it's for keeps. His loyalty runs deep, and you won't find a more devoted companion. The connection he builds is truly something special. Lucky is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and ready to start his next chapter. IMPORTANT NOTICE: All shelter animals are required by Texas state law to be spayed/neutered. RAC completes this procedure at the age of 12 weeks. If you are adopting a pet under the age of 12 weeks or an animal that has not yet been spayed or neutered, you will be required to return the pet to our facility on the agreed upon date set at the time of adoption. This policy is non-negotiable and violation of this health code is a criminal offense.
