Meet Rumi 💖 the tiny-dog–loving, hop-along sweetheart you’ve been waiting for!
Rumi is a 7-month-old Lab mix (our best guess!) with a heart as big as her personality and the cutest little tripod hop you will ever see. Yes, she’s missing a leg and no, she does not care even a little. Rumi runs, plays, wrestles, fetches, and zooms around just like any other puppy… she just does it with extra flair. ✨
Rumi is incredibly loving and affectionate, the kind of dog who makes it very clear that her favorite place in the world is with her people. She soaks up attention like it’s her full-time job! Belly rubs, gentle pets, cuddles, sweet talk… she wants it all and gives so much love right back. She’s soft, submissive, and deeply people-oriented once she feels safe, happily leaning in for affection and melting into touch. Rumi isn’t just friendly, she’s the warm-hearted, cuddle-seeking, love-you-with-her-whole-body kind of affectionate that makes you feel chosen every single day.

Now let’s talk about Rumi’s FAVORITE kind of dogs, because this is a huge green flag:
She is currently living with a tiny pug and a 30-pound foster brother, and oh my goodness this is her dream friend group! She adores small and medium dogs. She plays beautifully with them, happily wrestles, plays tug-of-war, and keeps things fun without being overwhelming. These are her people. This size and play style is absolutely her comfort zone, and she would love a home with a respectful, playful dog in this range. She is social, silly, and very engaged with her dog friends once she feels safe.
Rumi is playful but polite, pushy dogs stress her out, but dogs who respect her space and want to have fun? Best day ever. She thrives with dogs who understand boundaries and still want to play, and she bonds deeply with her canine companions.
With cats, Rumi did nicely during her cat testing. She was curious but calm, showed no signs of prey drive or fixation, and was more interested in peacefully existing than causing chaos. That said, we always like to be extra thoughtful, so we would recommend an in-home cat test just to be sure she’s 100% kitty-approved in her forever environment. Based on her behavior, we feel optimistic — especially if she also has a dog buddy to help her feel confident.
Rumi is also a people lover through and through. She’s submissive, affectionate, and an absolute sucker for attention. Belly rubs? Obsessed. Gentle pets? Yes please. She adores her humans and melts into love once she’s comfortable. She walks very nicely on leash, responds well to gentle guidance, and doesn’t need harsh corrections — she’s soft, sweet, and eager to please.
She would do well in an apartment (first floor ;) or quieter home! While she hasn’t been officially kid-tested, she is so gentle, affectionate, and loving that we think she could make a wonderful family dog. She’s super playful, but also gentle, sweet, and loving! Literally the perfect kid-friendly recipe!
The short version?
Rumi is a joyful, silly, toy-loving tripod puppy who lives for small dog friends, loves her people with her whole heart, plays beautifully, and brings nonstop smiles with her happy little hop. She’s sweet, social, playful, and ready to make your home a whole lot brighter.
