My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Paris

Paris is a beautiful one-year-old Poodle mix whose life began with heartbreak but is now filled with hope. She was found abandoned on the side of the road, left for the shelter to pick up—confused, scared, and unsure of what came next. Thanks to a second chance through the Paws in Prison program, Paris is finally discovering what it means to feel safe, loved, and valued.

Since entering the program, Paris has absolutely blossomed. She adores her inmate trainers, thrives on routine and positive guidance, and lights up during training sessions and playtime. Her intelligence shines through, and she’s eager to learn, connect, and please. Paris loves being part of the action, soaking up affection, and enjoying the simple joys she once missed out on.

Paris’s past does not define her—her resilience does. She’s ready for a forever home where she will be cherished, continue her training, and never be left behind again. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion with a powerful second-chance story, Paris is ready to start her happily ever after with you.

More about this rescue

We are a prison located in Lockhart TX. We rescue dogs from rural area shelters and take them into the prison for training on basic obedience. They are also house trained and crate trained. Training is done by the women inmate handlers. A professional trainer comes to the prison weekly to teach the inmates how to train the dogs. Dogs live at the prison for 2-3 months, in the cells with the inmates, while they are being trained.

All dogs are up to date on their shots, heartworm negative and on preventative, spayed/neutered, microchipped and trained for basic obedience.
