Hello there, I’m Spanky—a 3-year-old, 51 pound, Great Pyrenees and Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix with a mostly white coat and some rather handsome golden-tan spots, if I do say so myself. 🤍🐾 I’m known around here for being extremely sweet and for giving the very best hugs. Truly, if affection were a job, I’d be employee of the month.
I’m what they call a Velcro dog—I feel happiest when I’m right by my people. I love to lean into you, sit on your feet, and stay close at all times. It’s my way of saying, “You’re my person,” and as a bonus, I’m excellent at keeping toes warm in the winter. ❄️😊 I enjoy squeaky toys, and I will never say no to a yummy treat offered with kindness.
I’m a polite fellow with good manners. I know how to sit and give a paw, and I walk nicely on a leash. New places can make me a little nervous at first, so I appreciate patience and gentle encouragement—but once I realize I’m safe, my playful, loving personality really shines and I’m ready to enjoy myself fully.
I get along well with other dogs and I know how to use a doggie door. Since I came in as a stray, my humans can’t promise I’m 100% house-trained just yet, but I do all my business outside in the kennel yard or on walks, so I’m clearly on the right track. With a consistent routine, I know I’ll do just fine.
I’m ready for my forever home—one filled with love, reassurance, and lots of together time. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will stick by your side and fill your days with warmth and affection, I’d be honored to be your Spanky. 🐶💛 You can also call the shelter at 479-394-5682 to find out more about me. **************** All animals at HSO are current on their vaccinations and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. If not already spayed/neutered, there may be a short delay between when you select this pet and when they are ready to go home.
Breed and age are determined based on observable physical traits. Actual lineage and birth date are rarely known.
Adoption Fees: -$60 for cats -$60 for dogs over 6 years -$80 for dogs 6 months old to 6 years -$100 for puppies up to 6 months
Come visit our pets Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-2pm.

When you decide to adopt a pet, we charge a fee to cover some of our costs. (Except for 2 employees, all others are volunteers!) If there is any problem with your adopted pet, call us to work out a solution. Occasionally, we do take adopted pets back, but very seldom. This is why visiting our shelter is so important! We are willing to work with you! And we appreciate referrals!
