Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Steve, a truly special and affectionate kitten who is ready to find his forever home. Steve has a gentle, loving personality and forms strong bonds with his people. He enjoys being close and will happily follow you around the house, making him a loyal companion. Because he likes to stay nearby, he can sometimes get underfoot, so an adopter who is mindful of where they step will be important.
Steve came to GCHS from a feral cat colony after battling a severe upper respiratory infection and a serious eye infection. He is missing his right eye and has very limited vision in his left eye, but this does not stop him from being playful, friendly, and full of joy. He may need a little time to learn the layout of a new home, but once he does, he navigates well and loves his toys.
Steve does not feel secure being picked up, but he enjoys sitting right next to you on the couch or bed. He would thrive in a home where someone is around often. Older children who understand his needs may be a good fit, while very young children may not be ideal due to his limited vision. For his safety, a home without a pool or fall hazards is recommended. Steve will be happiest as an indoor only cat and will make a devoted, loving companion.

More about this shelter
The Gulf Coast Humane Society is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) animal welfare organization dedicated to serving the animals and community of Southwest Florida. We receive no federal, state, or county funding, nor do we receive financial support from the Humane Society of the United States. Instead, our lifesaving work is made possible through the generosity of individual donations, grants, bequests, and community fundraising efforts.
As a no kill shelter, Gulf Coast Humane Society is committed to providing compassionate care for unwanted, neglected, and abandoned animals. We never euthanize due to space constraints or the length of time an animal has been in our care. Our mission is to give every animal the second chance they deserve in a safe and loving environment.
