Meet Samba! This handsome Arabian gelding initially came to us with no known history of training or handling. He was also a stallion when he first arrived and still has that gorgeous sheen to his coat, plus has kept up his `stud pile` habit. Hello easy cleaning!

Samba was incredibly fearful and mistrustful of humans when he first arrived. Slowly but surely he has opened up and started to become more curious about the humans he interacts with every day. When our volunteers and staff clean his paddock they will often feel a gentle nuzzle on their shoulder as he curiously explores what we`re all about. Samba has just started to learn the basics of haltering and leading and has starting to venture out on walks from his paddock to the surrounding areas and even into the indoor arena. He has a lot of try but really benefits from a confident and calm handler who can show him that there`s nothing to be worried about anymore!

Samba currently lives out 24/7 with access to a run-in shed. He has not been turned out with other horses yet but has done well living next to other geldings in adjacent pens. He is up to date on all vaccines and is sound and healthy. He can be nervous around vet and farrier handling and does currently need sedation to get all of his feet trimmed. He has been steadily improving and is looking for a kind and patient adopter to continue his `good citizen` training. We know this sweet boy wants to please and the more confidence he gains, the more we see how much this boy can really do!

Samba is rather small in stature and is getting a late start to his training so we`re not certain he will be a good fit for riding, but if you are looking for a project horse and are excited by the possibility of discovering what direction this sweet boy could go then Samba is your guy!
