My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello… my name is Chikis (Chiquis).

I’m writing this myself, but my foster human is helping me type (my paws are too clumsy!).

I’m looking for my very first Real Home. I’ve waited my whole life for one. For over eight months , my home was the dusty space under a house. The world above was loud and confusing, so I watched it from the shadows. I’m a shepherd mix, which means I’m smart, but I’m still figuring everything out.

They tell me I’m very funny and clumsy. It’s true! I sometimes trip over my own big feet when I get excited, and my zoomies are more like happy, wobbly spirals. I have a silly, playful side that’s starting to peek out—I might surprise you with a goofy play bow or a gentle toss of a toy.

But I have to be honest with you: I am very timid. New sounds make me jump. Fast movements startle me. I’m not used to people, but please don’t think I don’t like you. I just need time to learn that you are safe.

Here is my promise to you: Once I trust you, I am your loyal, loving shadow. The first time I lean against your leg, or fall asleep near you, you’ll know we’ve made it. My trust, once given, is forever. I will be your funny, wiggly, affectionate friend.

My dream home is:

· Quiet and patient. Loud parties would be too much, but quiet evenings are my favorite.
· Kind and understanding. You’ll need to let me come to you, in my own time. No pressure, just gentle invites.
· A soft place to land. A cozy bed, regular meals, and a yard to sniff would feel like a miracle.

I’m not a `ready-made` dog. I am a heart-making dog. If you have room in your heart and home for a gentle, silly soul who will adore you once she knows it`s safe, please ask about me.

I have so much love to give. I just need someone to believe in me.

Love,
Chikis(chiquis)

P.S. My foster mom/dad says watching me blossom is the most rewarding thing ever. Could I blossom with you?
