Here's what the humans have to say about me:

** $1,940 in pledges for the rescue that pulls! **

Sebastian ACCT-A-240534 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to medical concerns. Sebastian must have confirmed placement with an ADOPTER or RESCUE PARTNER by THURSDAY, JANUARY 8th by 10:00 am. Should Sebastian’s medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change.

Due to being significantly overcapacity with animals and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted. If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately. Due to limited space, timestamps may also be proceeded with early so it is imperative to let us know if you are considering adopting or tagging an animal.

Meet Sebastian! Sebastian is currently at the shelter after being surrendered by his owner due to inappropriate elimination, blood in his urine, and difficulty coexisting with another cat in the home. This has been a big transition for him, and he’s understandably feeling overwhelmed in the shelter environment.

Sebastian is a sweet, sensitive boy who does best with a calm, gentle approach. Staff have found that giving him time to acclimate and letting him set the pace helps him feel safer. Once he’s allowed to sniff and get comfortable, he welcomes gentle pets and shows his affectionate side. Sebastian would thrive in a quiet, patient home that understands shy cats and is willing to let him come out of his shell on his own timeline. He may do best as the only cat in the home, where he doesn’t have to compete for space or feel stressed by other felines.

Medically, Sebastian has been diagnosed with urinary crystals, which likely contributed to his inappropriate elimination. He will require a prescription urinary diet to help manage this condition. Because stress can worsen urinary issues, it’s especially important that Sebastian goes to a low-stress environment. Cats with urinary crystals can be at increased risk for urethral obstruction, which is a serious, life-threatening emergency if it occurs, so an adopter or rescue partner should be prepared to monitor him closely and seek immediate veterinary care if concerns arise. With the right home, proper diet, and stress reduction, Sebastian has the potential to do very well.

Sebastian is looking for either an adopter or a rescue partner who can provide him with the understanding, stable environment he needs to feel safe and comfortable again.

BEHAVIOR NOTES:

On 1/5 per staff: Spent some time with Sebastian today. This sweet boy is scared and does well with a soft approach. after letting him sniff my hand for a bit he allowed me to pet him on his head and back.
