Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Kanen: The Professional Snuggler
This handsome hound dog is sure to steal your heart! Kanen is a 9-month-old American Leopard Hound (also known as a Leopard Cur). As one of the oldest treeing breeds in the U.S., his ancestors were bred for the hunt, but Kanen is more interested in hunting for the best spot on your pillow.
Kanen has officially discovered the joys of indoor life. He loves to snuggle in bed and get this, actually enjoys being tucked in with blankets.
If you love the outdoors, so does he! He’s a huge fan of playing in the snow. Kanen can be a little nervous in the loud shelter environment. However, once he trusts you, his silly puppy personality shines through. He is highly motivated by treats, which makes training a breeze.
He has lived with other dogs before and would likely benefit from a confident, friendly dog sibling to show him the ropes. The shelter environment can be a bit loud and overwhelming for this sensitive guy. Because Kanen can be nervous and fearful in new or loud situations, he would greatly benefit from a confident, friendly dog sibling to show him the ropes. Having a furry mentor will help him feel secure and allow his silly puppy personality to truly shine.
True to his hound roots, Kanen has a habit of chasing cats, so a feline-free home is best. He hasn`t had much exposure to children yet. If you have little ones, we’d love for them to meet him here at the shelter first!
Kanen is a loyal, intelligent, and protective young dog who is just looking for a soft place to land.
Kanen is neutered and has received core vaccinations (bordetella, canine distemper, rabies), flea + tick preventative, has been dewormed, and is microchipped.
If you are interested in adopting Kanen, reach out to us at 920-733-1717 or adopt@foxvalleypets.org. You can also call to make an appointment or feel free to take a peek during our open hours!
