My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Garland is a 4 month old pup who is originally from the island of St. Croix. We estimate that she will be around 30 pounds when full grown and is long and low! We have NO idea what breeds make up this adorable girl, but she does show signs of some herding dog types as she is independent, active, intelligent and loves to follow your feet closely and weave around you when you walk. Even though she started in the tropics, she acclimated quickly to our cold, snowy temps and LOVES them! She has no problem keeping up with her large, active foster dog siblings on snowy hikes in Litchfield county. This girl is tough! She is ready for a life filled with outdoor fun and adventure. She is learning the routines of being in a home quickly but is not yet fully housebroken. She is smart however and is catching on quickly. She is a puppy and with that comes puppy things like being a little mouthy when playing, so we need people who are ready to take on the training that comes with puppy raising. Garland is ready to meet potential families, so if you feel you are a fit, fill out an application. If you have any questions email info@spottydogrescue.org

More about this rescue

FOSTER-BASED

All of our dogs are housed in loving foster homes until their forever family finds them.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT:

To provide safe harbor, medical care and love for adoptable dogs that have been abused, abandoned and neglected until they are placed into loving, responsible permanent homes; to decrease the need for senseless destroying of dogs by educating the public about the benefits of spaying & neutering; to build a community where people value animals and treat them with respect and kindness; to promote respect for life, responsible pet ownership and to encourage the higher ideals of compassion towards animals and people through education and example.

OUR COMMITMENT

Prior to adoption, each dog is spayed or neutered, receives a comprehensive veterinary examination and appropriate tests and inoculations. We conduct a thorough screening of all potential adopters to ensure the best possible match between healthy dogs and adoptive homes. We make a lifetime commitment to all of our rescued dogs. Our mission does not end with adoption. We follow up with advice, support and appropriate resources to assure a successful integration of each dog into his or her new home.
