My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Say hello to Pepper Jack, one of the famous Cheese Board Babies of Mama Colby Jack (KRLA-A-85426) and sister to Quark (KRLA-A-85431) and Camembert (KRLA-A-85430). A true celebrity kitten in the rescue world, Pepper Jack has the confidence (and the voice) to prove it. Around the house she goes by Pepper, and true to her name, she has just the right amount of spice to bring a little zest into your life.

Pepper is playful, loving, full of sass, and more than a little naughty—in the most charming way. She is the undisputed head kitty in charge of her foster home, and she absolutely knows it. This rough-and-tumble little girl loves to spar with her assorted foster siblings, launching surprise attacks and leading everyone into spirited kitten chaos. She throws herself into playtime with athletic gusto and zero hesitation. When Pepper has something to say (which is often), she yells about it with the confidence of a tiny queen delivering an important proclamation.

But beneath all that fire is a very tender heart. Pepper is her foster mom’s special girl and loves nothing more than being carted around like a baby, tucked against a shoulder with her motor running. She adores being close to her people and will often call out if she decides she needs a hug, a smooch, or a quick snuggle break. She may be bossy with other kittens, but with her humans she is all sweetness, warmth, and affection.

Pepper isn’t for the faint of heart—she is high-energy, highly expressive, and absolutely full of big kitten feelings. But for the right family who loves a mischievous little nugget with a huge personality and an even bigger heart, she will be pure joy. Pepper will fill your home with laughter, love, and nonstop entertainment. She truly is one of a kind, and whoever adopts her is in for an unforgettable, spicy-sweet adventure.

If you’re ready to welcome this delightful little firecracker into your home, please reach out to her foster family at elserenocats@gmail.com.

Additional adoption info

We adopt animals to homes in the Los Angeles area and neighboring counties.

To help ensure that we place our cats in loving, responsible, committed homes, we have a screening process before you can adopt a pet from Kitten Rescue. We reserve the right to turn down potential adopters as we deem necessary. First, we ask that you complete our Adoption Questionnaire at kittenrescue.org/cat-adoption-form/. You can complete the form online or you may stop by a weekly adoption event to complete form in person. Second, a home visit or a home delivery of the cat or kitten is also required as part of our adoption process.

The Kitten Rescue adoption fee is $150 for a kitten or cat up to 10 years old, and $100 for each additional kitten or cat to the same household ($250 if you adopt a pair). Cats above 10 years old have a fee reduction of 50%, for an adoption fee of $75 each.

All of our cats have already been:
Spayed or neutered
Vaccinated – with at least one FVRCP vaccination
Treated for fleas
Dewormed
Tested for FeLV (Feline Leukemia) and FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus)
Microchipped

More about this rescue

Kitten Rescue is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization devoted to finding loving homes for unwanted, homeless cats and kittens. We rescue cats and kittens from the streets of Los Angeles and from City Shelter euthanasia. Since our start in 1997, we have grown into one of the largest, most well-respected animal welfare groups in LA.

Kitten Rescue volunteers adopt out over 2,000 cats and kittens into homes every year. We educate the public about responsible pet guardianship, how to care for kittens and cats, and the importance of spaying and neutering. Kitten Rescue makes educational material available via events, print, school presentations and here on our website. We also provide Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) assistance for communities in and around Los Angeles, and teach people how to manage and care for feral cat colonies.
