Here's what the humans have to say about me:
EMERGENCY PLACEMENT DEADLINE CLOSE OF BUSINESS FRIDAY 01/09/26 AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION OR FOSTER THROUGH PACC
Name: Shana Animal ID: A888998 Age: 1 year 7 months Weight: 30.2lbs Web Link: 24petconnect.com/PimaAdoptablePets/Details/PIMA/A888998 About: At just one year and seven months old, Shana is a beautiful black Lab mix who is searching for the stability she’s never truly known. Having come from a large impound of 17 dogs who lived largely without human contact, Shana spent her early life navigating the world on her own. Because she had to rely on her instincts to survive, she currently views the world with a bit of caution and is still learning that she no longer has to scavenge for food or fend for herself. She is looking for a `soft landing`—a quiet, secure place where she can finally let her guard down and simply enjoy being a puppy. Shana will require a very specific, patient home that understands the slow process of decompression. She is currently quite terrified of the shelter environment and exhibits shy, nervous behavior, so she needs a family that won’t expect immediate affection or `basic dog` skills right away. Due to her history, Shana has a natural prey drive and can be quite flighty when startled, making a secure and mindful environment a top priority. However, she finds great comfort in the company of other dogs; having a confident canine sibling to guide her and show her the ropes would be the best way to help Shana realize that life with humans can be a wonderful thing. Available for long term foster care (30+ days) or adoption through PACC.
Interested parties: Must visit PACC before the COB Friday January 9th, 2026 deadline to meet with a counselor who will review notes and introduce you to the dog to ensure that it’s a good fit. Some dogs may also require an introduction to any dogs they may potentially live with.
