My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Aruen 🐾

Aruen is a 5-month-old female calico whose name means “noble maiden”—and it suits her perfectly. She has stunning calico markings, an adorable orange face sprinkled with sweet freckles, and eyes that will melt your heart.

Aruen can be a little shy when she first meets new people, but once she feels safe, her playful personality shines. She loves to tease with a game of “catch me if you can” and will happily zoom around showing off her kitten energy. When playtime is over, she turns into a total cuddle bug—affectionate, loving, and happiest curled up close to you.

Aruen would do best with a patient family who will give her a little time to settle in and then enjoy a loyal, playful, and very cuddly companion.

All CSHS kitties are spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, FIV/FeLV test (if not born in care), dewormed and microchipped.

Go meet their pets

While we are a foster-based animal rescue and all of our dogs are in foster care, we do have a cat adoption space at our new Adoption & Wellness Center in Chaska. We also partner with local retail locations like PetSmart Richfield and Chuck & Don's Chanhassen to feature adoptable cats at their stores.

More about this rescue

Carver-Scott Humane Society was founded in 1989 with the mission of connecting animals in need with people who care. Our vision is a world where every animal is safe, cared for, and loved.

In 2017, we introduced a new, innovative rescue philosophy based on our Four Pillars: TNR, Serve Where You Save, FurKeeps, and Adopters Welcome. As of 2018, we adopt over 500 dogs and cats into the community every year, with a nationally reported Live Release Rate of 97%. We serve over 1,000 Minnesota pets and their families annually through our surrender prevention program, FurKeeps, aiming to keep pets out of the shelter system in the first place.

CSHS focuses on serving and saving Minnesota pets, and we do not transport animals in from out of state. We do our best to prevent surrender, which creates capacity for us to transfer most of our animals from high-volume impounds and shelters throughout the state. For the past three years, we have transferred more animals from Minneapolis Animal Care & Control than any other animal welfare organization.
