Here's what the humans have to say about me:
SPECIAL NEEDS DOG NEEDS YOU!! Nala is a 4-year-old Alaskan Husky, ready for adoption! Nala came to AWD in very poor condition, but you’d never guess it from her gentle spirit. When lab work showed that she was diabetic, one of our veterinarians took her on as a foster to get her stabilized. She has done well and is now ready for the big world again! Though she is visually impaired, Nala greets the world with calm curiosity and quiet confidence. She loves leisurely walks, taking her time to sniff around the yard, and she’s happiest when there’s a treat involved (which she adores). This lovely girl has a soft, serene disposition and shows affection in the sweetest ways—like gently nudging your hand to remind you she’s there, especially if ear scratches are involved (her favorite!). Her coat is surprisingly beautiful and well-kept, a little reminder of just how resilient she is. She is polite and easy to medicate. While Nala is usually quiet and easygoing, mealtime reveals her true husky nature—she’ll let out an enthusiastic howl if dinner is even a minute late! Despite cataracts Nala doesn’t let limited vision slow her down. She’s adventurous, eager to explore new spaces, and once she learns a layout, she can confidently navigate a home, stairs included. Nala is proof that strength doesn’t have to be loud. She’s gentle, loving, and endlessly brave—a special girl ready to share her quiet magic with a patient, kind family. If you`d like to meet Nala email our foster team at AWDFoster@cabq.gov All of her adoption fees are waived.
