Pancake is a total love bug who eagerly jumps up for pets, happily curls up next to you, and greets you with the cutest little meow. He adores his wet food, loves giving kisses, and thrives on affection. His favorite place to be is wherever you are.
Pancake is also quite the conversationalist. He loves to walk around meowing and is especially vocal when playing with other kitties, happily chatting as he plays.
Pancake is around 5-7 years old, but he has the orange cat energy and enjoys being part of the action. He would do wonderfully in a busy household or with another friendly furry companion to keep him engaged and entertained.
Around the house, he goes by many affectionate nicknames. He is Hamcake when he is hamming it up for attention and Cheesecake when he is being extra sweet. He is also lovingly called Pan Man, Cake Man, and Mr. Cakes. Honestly, he answers to all of them.
When Pancake was found in a warehouse, he weighed under 5 pounds and was barely hanging on. With care, love, and determination, he has completely blossomed into a healthy, happy 10.5 pound chunky monkey who is thriving and full of life.
Pancake has a few unique quirks from his time on the streets. He has a tiny healed cut on his tongue, only one tooth remaining after a much needed dental, and a permanently adorable little tongue that often peeks out. Together, it gives him a one of a kind smile that only adds to his charm. None of this affects his eating and he still enjoys every bite of his meals. He is also FIV positive and FIV positive cats can live long, healthy lives indoors with regular care.
Because Pancake has only known his foster home since April, he may need a few weeks to decompress and settle in as he adjusts to a new environment. With patience, love, and routine, his affectionate personality shines through beautifully.
As his foster, I love Pancake deeply. Watching him go from a fragile, underweight kitty to a confident, affectionate companion has been incredibly special. After everything he has been through, he truly deserves the very best forever home filled with love, safety, and kindness.
Now, Pancake is ready for a loving forever home where he can enjoy life surrounded by people and maybe another pet and spend his golden years safe, warm, and cherished.

As a rescue, Springfield Kitty Cat Shack Rescue volunteers get to know the cats they care for and can share their knowledge to help you find your perfect forever fur baby.
Please keep in mind that cats are sociable creatures, and sometimes two are better than one. Playmates tend to lower the amount of trouble a single fur baby might get into when they are bored due to busy schedules or long work hours.
We will choose the best applicant for each kitty and reach out to that applicant.

More about this rescue
Springfield Kitty Cat Shack Rescue is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization located in Jacksonville, Florida. We are a small volunteer-run non-profit that had humble beginnings in 2019.
Our rescue's mission is on taming feral and sick kitties too old to go to ACPS or the Humane Society.
This is no small undertaking! The need is great, and we help as many cats and kittens as we can. Sometimes this means rescuing a sick kitty, trapping feral cats and kittens, and other times it’s giving a pregnant mom a safe place to have her kittens.
Before starting the rescue, we were involved in TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) activities, fostering, and volunteering at local shelters in Jacksonville, FL.
During the summer of 2018, we focused on fostering semi-feral kittens ( the sick and the hissy) through local shelters and then on our own. Due to our success of re-homing so many cats and kittens, we decided to make it official in December 2018.
