Our Daisy girl is a 6-year-old senior Labrador/Retriever mix who recently came into our care after her owners were no longer able to keep her due to moving. She is an old girl who loves to go on walks outdoors and soak up the sun. She has been in a home for many years and is potty trained, spayed, knows how to sit, and is kid friendly. She has also been on WLOX News as our Pepsi pet of the week. Her adoption fee is sponsored. She is heartworm positive by no fault of her own. But don't let that turn you away from this sweet girl who deserves to live out the rest of her days happy and healthy. This senior girl would love a family who will assist her with weight loss, as she is 100lbs of love. She is currently on a diet and will need to continue to prevent issues as she ages. Are you a fan of senior dogs? Ask about this sweet girl today!
Daisy's adoption fee includes spay/neuter, up to date vaccines, microchip AND transport fee to a location near you. We currently have transportation to CT, MD, NJ, NY, PA, VA, GA, and TN. Please email transport@hssm.org for more information on transports!
--> If you are interested in adopting Daisy please fill out our online application here: (https://forms.gle/nuKXoMu6gjS5DhFm8 - Dog). A staff member will reach out if your application is approved to discuss the adoption process. No fenced in yard required, and YES - we adopt to families with children! The adoption will not be final until the adoption contract is discussed and signed. Transports are arranged for specific dates, typically within 1-3 weeks of approving your application. Adopters will meet at a designated meeting spot to pick up their new companions. For further information, please first fill out the application referenced above.

The Humane Society of South Mississippi (HSSM) is the largest animal welfare organization in the state of Mississippi. HSSM’s facility was built using the nation’s leading Children’s Museums as models, with bright colors and oversized architectural sculptures. We offer: pet adoptions, foster program, return-to-owner efforts, spay/neuter and wellness services, volunteer program, pet transports, youth initiatives, a food pantry and pet retention program, an on-site thrift store, and more! In 2024, HSSM cared for over 5,000 homeless pets in house and touched over 16,000 animals in the community.
Since our incorporation in 1952, HSSM has been committed to ending pet overpopulation on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. HSSM is the only Open Admissions Animal Shelter in South Mississippi, meaning we accept all animals in need, regardless of age, breed, health, or temperament. This commitment ensures that no lost pet is turned away. Oftentimes our open-admissions status in a community with a disproportionately high number of homeless pets leads to needless euthanasia of adoptable pets in our shelter HSSM has vowed to change this.
