My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ATTENTION:  All of our dogs are in private foster homes.  We do NOT have a kennel with multiple dogs.  If you find a dog you want to meet in person, please go to www.secondchancedogrescue.org and complete an application.    We will make every attempt to process all applications within 3 business days of receipt.

Meet Blossom, a gentle, soulful girl who loves playing outside and meeting new doggie friends. She is a one year old 28 lb. terrier mix. Blossom is a shy pup who takes a little time to feel safe, but once she does, her sweet, fun and affectionate nature truly shines.  She has adorable bursts of playful energy but is generally really relaxed for her young age. Her foster frequently gets compliments on her "movie star looks", because of her big beautiful eyes! She bonds deeply with her person and she’s happiest curled up in a warm bed beside you where she sleeps peacefully through the night. Blossom would do best in a home with a yard, as she prefers going potty on grass and is still working on full potty training. New people and places can feel a little overwhelming at first, but with patience and reassurance, she gently eases into new experiences, she loves outings like walks and beach visits. Her activity level is moderate: she enjoys 3-4 short walks a day, plays well with dogs she knows, and has started to enjoy running on leash. She would do well with some who would love a well-behaved pup who wants an exercise companion! While she's shy at first, she enjoys meeting new people and would do well in a home with other small-medium sized dogs, and is a bit unsure around larger dogs but will interact with bigger dogs who are gentle. Blossom isn’t food-motivated, but she has her favorite stuffed toys/tennis ball, loves food puzzles and her favorite thing of all is being outside where she can sniff and discover new things. She'd love to have a backyard to lounge in and call her own. She's mostly potty trained and has learned some basic commands, she’s a smart cookie who's eager to learn in a loving, patient home. Blossom is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and ready to find the forever family who will help her continue to bloom. If you’re an experienced, patient dog lover looking for a loyal cuddlebug with a heart of gold, Blossom just might be your perfect match. Her adoption fee is $300.

All Second Chance Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, are up to date on vaccines and have microchips prior to adoption.   Adoption fees vary depending on age of dog. Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We require an Adoption Questionnaire to be completed - whether online or in person - before meeting any of our dogs. Upon approval of the Questionnaire, a potential adopter will be required to complete an Adoption Contract and pay adoption fees. All of our adoptions start with the first 2 weeks as a 'trial' period, to ensure the adoption is a good fit. Adoption of a puppy may require a refundable training deposit, which will be refunded upon completion of training with a Certfied dog trainer, and submission of certificate of completion to our office.

More about this rescue

Second Chance Dog Rescue was formed to fulfill a desperate need in the community to Rescue, Rehabilitate & Re-home homeless dogs from the over-crowded local shelters, and from families who can no longer take care of their dogs (on a case-by-case basis only).

Our program is based on foster care, and all rescued dogs spend their first days at a loving foster home where they receive personalized care. As part of our program, we ensure that all dogs are vaccinated, are spayed or neutered, and have been socialized by their foster family. In addition, Second Chance Dog Rescue provides support for potential new owners and monitors progress for both new pet parents and their adopted dogs. This helps guarantee that our dogs go to good, loving, forever homes.
