My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Nala was surrendered to our Newark shelter through no fault of her own. At just 1 year old, she’s already mastered the art of tortitude—sweet, spicy, and full of personality. With a little sass to keep things interesting, Nala is looking for an adult-only home where she can be adored, understood, and catered to exactly as she deserves.

More about this shelter

The Associated Humane Societies rescues stray and homeless animals, both domestic and wildlife, providing quality care and sanctuary until loving homes can be found. As a community-based organization, we provide low-cost veterinary care and humane education to promote responsible pet guardianship throughout New Jersey.

For over a century we have offered a haven to abused and neglected animals. Founded in 1906, AHS is the largest animal sheltering system in New Jersey, operating three shelters located in Newark, Forked River, and Tinton Falls. Our Forked River facility also includes Popcorn Park. Established in 1977, Popcorn Park is a sanctuary for abandoned, injured, ill, exploited, abused, or elderly wildlife, exotic and farm animals, and birds.

The Society is a not-for-profit, 501(c)3 organization and we take pride in our devotion to the thousands of animals that come through our doors looking for a better life.

Please visit our website AHSCares.org for additional information.
