Meet Rosa, a 2-year-old, 42-lb Australian Shepherd mix with a gentle soul and an easygoing personality
Rosa does great with everything she meets—people, dogs, and new situations alike. She has a calm, sweet demeanor and is refreshingly mellow for an Aussie mix, making her a wonderful companion for a variety of homes.
Rosa is crate trained, housebroken with the use of a dog door, and has excellent manners around the house. She also walks beautifully on a leash and enjoys getting out for relaxed walks.
Rosa previously tested positive for heartworms, but she has completed treatment using the fast-kill method (Diroban) and is now heartworm free. She’s healthy, happy, and ready to move forward into her forever home.
If you’re looking for a loving, well-mannered, and calm companion with a heart of gold, Rosa may be the perfect addition to your family
Rosa has been diagnosed with heartworm infection. Dogs acquire heartworm infections when they are bitten by a mosquito that was infected with heartworm larvae.
Dogs with heartworm infection live happy, high-quality lives as long as they are given appropriate care. Heartworm infection is relatively common in the United States so we are in need of caring adopters like you that are willing to open their home to a dog with heartworm infection. We think that our heartworm dogs have just as much to offer their new adopters as any other dog and they deserve a chance at life. Adopters will receive all the necessary medications needed to complete the heartworm treatment protocol.
Rosa also did test positive for anaplasmosis and ehrlichiosis which are bacteria infections caused by a tick bite and she has begun a 30-day course of doxycycline.
Please understand you are committing to providing a good home for her entire life (up to 15+ years or more.)
You must be committed to housebreaking, age-appropriate enrichment and exercise, leash training, grooming needs, and positive socialization.
Her adoption fee is $200. This includes her spay surgery, rabies vaccination, Nobivac® Canine 1-DAPP vaccination, Nobivac® Intra-Trac 3 vaccination, Drontal® Plus, IDEXX SNAP® 4Dx Plus Test, Tri-Heart® Plus chewable tablet, 24PetWatch® microchip, and leash and collar.
Please be aware that puppies and small breed dogs do get adopted quickly so interested parties are encouraged to apply online at www.saspca.org.
Please ensure your application is complete before submitting. We do verify property ownership, landlord references, apartment/HOA restrictions, veterinary references.
Our adoption events are held every other Saturday at Petco located in the Northwoods Shopping Center at 18138 San Pedro Ave, San Antonio TX 78232. Event hours are 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
