My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

WHOLEWHEAT hails from Sandy Lake and came south in search of his forever family along with his mum, Bread and 3 siblings Sourdough, Multigrain and Pumpernickel and he’s now looking for his very own loving forever home. He’s neutered, had his two sets of vaccines including a rabies shot, Revolution flea and tick treatment, a microchip and been deemed a healthy boy by the vet. If you’re looking for a loveable little purring machine then look no further as this is he. He’s also an active, mischievous little guy who loves to play with his toys and chase his siblings around. He’s one of the most loveable little kitties his foster has ever known and he loves it when she picks him up and snuggles with him. He’ll also jump on her lap or perch on her knee and have a little snooze.

WHOLEWHEAT has used the litter box since day one in foster care as he’s a such a smart boy. He loves to eat both kibble and wet food along with nice cold water to drink. Plus his all time favourite though is treats and most notably Temptations treats. Chasing crinkly toys around is one of his favourite pass times and he’s just discovering what fun all the kitty toys are that he has. He loves the cat tree and uses the scratch post that’s at the bottom of it too. He’s in a foster home with a puppy so he would suit a home with a dog as long as the dog is cat savvy and a slow, monitored introduction is made between them. Another cat in the home or even one of his siblings would be ideal for him as he’s always been with several of them and actually never lived alone. He can be an only cat though as long as he’s not left alone for long periods of time. Children should be aged 6 plus and be caring, gentle and loving towards animals.

If you would like to meet WHOLEWHEAT then please submit an adoption application for him.

Additional adoption info

Dogs: $750 (as of March 2024)
Cats: $250
The adoption process involves a brief application for the pet you are interested in. We will review your application and if you appear to be a good match for the pet, we will contact you for a phone interview. If that is successful we then do a vet reference check. If all goes well we will then set up a meet and greet for you and anyone else living in the home including any resident dogs with the pet. We then ask you to go home and contemplate your decision on adopting the pet and let us know your decision within 24hrs of meeting the pet. If applicable we will then move forward with the adoption at a mutually agreed upon time.

Go meet their pets

We only set up meet and greets with our animals once an adoption application has been submitted. We do occasionally have meet and greets with our animals at Global Pet Foods in the Barrie area.

You can check out the available pets on our rescuegroups website or on our rescue Facebook page.

More about this rescue

We’re a small rescue with a big mission to save animals in our Northern communities, local Pounds and owner surrenders (under certain circumstances.) We’re located in Barrie, Ontario and we serve the area of Simcoe County and within a two hour radius of the Barrie area.
Our intakes are placed in loving foster homes until they’re assessed, vetted including vaccines, microchip and a spay/neuter (if over 6 months of age) before they leave the rescue to be adopted. Female puppies are spayed at 6 months of age and males 8 months of age.)
We’re always looking for additional foster homes as we can only do intakes if we have foster homes for them to go into.
