My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello! My name is Marcie. I am an affectionate, playful young lady looking for my forever home.

From the very first moment in my foster home, I took the crown as the most lovey-dovey cat in the house. When humans walk into my bedroom, I run over to them and rub all over their legs. I absolutely love being around people—both the people who live in my house and the friends that come to visit them. When my foster mom watches TV, I lay right next to her legs. When my foster dad has a bowl of ice cream, I lay on his chest, nuzzling my face against his scratchy beard. When their friends come to visit, I am instantly ready to introduce myself and to show them some of my famous affection.

In addition to snuggling, I also love to play! My top three toys are feather wands that I can pounce on, laser pointers that I can chase, and glitter pom pom balls that my foster parents throw for me to hunt! I’m not a terribly curious or mischievous feline, but when the toys come out, I know it’s my time to let loose and have some fun!

If you’re hoping to never watch a TV show alone again, to always be greeted with enthusiasm upon returning home, and to share your life with a soft-spoken, green-eyed tabby goddess, I might be the cat (dare I say, the purr-fect cat?) for you.

See you soon!

Go meet their pets

Our shelter is in north Fargo, near the old Yunker's Children's Museum, located just off of University Dr. on 28th Ave. N. We have open house hours from 4-7pm Tuesday-Friday, and 2-6pm on Saturdays. We have adoption events throughout the year, and you can find more information about those on our website at www.homewardonline.org or our Facebook page, www.facebook.com/HomewardAnimalShelter.

More about this shelter

We are a small shelter that rescues pets from local impounds whose time is up, and would otherwise be euthanized. We only have 9 dog kennels and 26 cat kennels; as many of 80% of the animals in our care are located in foster homes throughout the community at any time. We are very limited on space within our shelter and often, we can't take in owner surrenders, but will do our best to help give guidance about rehoming pets.

We offer several services besides adoption, including microchip clinics and pet-friendly rental housing listings.

We are the only shelter in the FM area that rescues both cats and dogs, so without our help, hundreds of dogs and cats would be euthanized each year in local pounds.
