Meet Pinto
Pinto is a sweet, complex 3-year-old boy looking for a calm, compassionate home where he can continue healing and building trust. He is currently thriving in foster care and making steady, meaningful progress.
Pinto is a charming little low-rider with bowed legs and a big personality. He’s funny, smart, and deeply loyal to his person. Once he bonds, he becomes a devoted companion — affectionate, cuddly, and happiest when he’s close by. He’s still learning and can be anxious and protective, but he responds best to gentle, patient guidance.
Personality & Energy:
Medium energy
Enjoys playtime and short walks (cannot run long distances)
Has small bursts of energy throughout the day, followed by rest
Loving, expressive, and eager to connect
Home & Handling Notes:
Very affectionate with his trusted person
Uncomfortable with strangers and unfamiliar hands
Typical dislikes: nail trims and ear handling
Female-only home preferred, or very slow, respectful introductions to men
Not suitable for homes with small children
Other Animals:
Has done well with a cat and shows gentle curiosity
Can live with another dog but must eat separately
Dog introductions should be slow and thoughtful
Training & Medical Notes:
Working on potty training and consistency with important commands
Past resource guarding has improved with positive, gentle reinforcement
Occasionally mouthy when uncomfortable or needing to go outside
Currently receiving treatment for medical issues that caused pain and contributed to unwanted behaviors; these are actively being addressed with hopeful progress
Right Fit:
Woman adopter seeking a close, loyal companion
Calm, predictable household
Patient, experienced, and comfortable with gentle training
Someone who values routine, emotional connection, and trust-building
Not a Fit:
Homes with small children
Busy or highly social households
Adopters looking for an “easy” or immediately social dog
Pinto isn’t looking for just any home — he’s looking for his person. If you’re someone who understands that trust takes time and believes in meeting a dog where he is, Pinto has the potential to be an incredibly devoted companion.
Applications are welcome with the understanding that Pinto will need patience as he completes medical treatment and continues building confidence.
