My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

(We changed this kitten's name to Tater Tot.)
Bio:
Tater Tot is a six-month-old short-haired tabby with a tiny body, a giant heart, and about five pounds of pure love. She’s one of those rare kittens who seems instantly at home wherever she goes with people, kids, other cats, or even brand-new spaces. Nothing rattles her. She is simply happy to be there!

Affection is her love language. Tater Tot starts purring before you even pick her up, and once she’s near you, the motor really gets going. One of her favorite moves is hopping up onto the chair beside you… then gently tipping her whole little body into your lap like she’s melting into happiness. She’ll happily sit in your arms, follow you around the house, or curl up next to you while you work… always close, never demanding.

In her foster home, Tater Tot is wonderful with a 7-year-old and absolutely adores people of all ages. She’s playful in short, sweet bursts, then happily settles in for long cozy naps. She’s quiet, gentle, and incredibly easygoing… not loud, not needy, just deeply loving and content to be part of your life.
She’s confident in new environments, gets along beautifully with other cats, and would likely do great with a friendly dog too. Tater Tot has never met a person or place she didn’t feel comfortable with, which makes her an ideal fit for just about any home.

Whether she’s joining a family with kids, an active household, or someone who works from home and wants a loving little shadow, Tater Tot will fit right in. She’s low-maintenance, affectionate, and endlessly sweet, the kind of kitten who makes every day feel a little warmer just by being there!

Adoption Process

  • Fill out an adoption interest application HERE.

  • Our goal is finding lifelong, loving homes for our animals, so we try to find the best match between animal and adopter. We can help advise you on which animals to meet based on your situation.

  • You can meet some of our animals at our weekend adoption events, or we can arrange for a meeting in the foster home. If it’s a good match, the foster parent will come to visit your home in person. This is to make sure your home is safe and secure for a new companion animal.

  • Note: IAR makes every effort to please our adopters, but our first concern must be for the animal’s welfare. We reserve the right to deny any application.

More about this rescue

IAR started with one woman's big dreams, a bigger heart, and a very distinctive purple pickup truck that helped her rescue countless of unwanted, abused, and homeless Triangle pets. Originally founded in 1994, IAR earned an official 501(c)(3) status in 1995. We are governed by a Board of Directors, managed by elected officers, and introduced IAR’s first paid position, General Manager, in June 2021. This role will assist with elevating our collective compassion to new heights and strengthening IAR’s impact as a whole.

Our mission is to rescue and provide safe and responsible care for homeless, abandoned, and abused animals. We shall strive to help all animals in need through our service programs. We will serve our communities through promotion of spay/neuter for all companion animals, and the education of children and adults in humane care, respect and responsibility for animals on this earth.
