My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Evie, a delightful companion who brings joy and warmth to everyone around her. Friendly and playful, Evie loves engaging in fun activities and is always up for a game. She weighs 36 pounds and likes running and wrestling. Despite her energetic nature, she also has a mellow side, enjoying quiet cuddle times and showing her gentle spirit. She loves being petted. Curious about the world, she explores with enthusiasm but is always careful and considerate. Fully house trained, Evie fits seamlessly into home life but she is inexperienced with leash walking. She does know the come command. She`s incredibly friendly, making her an excellent companion for families with children and a fun playmate for other dogs. Evie also has a gentle disposition towards cats. She thrives on companionship and would make a perfect addition to any family looking for a loyal and loving friend. (tw 1/15/2026)

FOSTER NOTES:
Evie is staying at her foster home but is ready for her forever home. Her foster finds her to be a mellow, calm, easygoing and low maintenance dog fully trained in all aspects. While she may not be a pro in leash walking yet, it is very easy to distract her when she stops to check things out. She finds many things curious in and around the house, which is sweet to observe. Her small size and calm demeanor make her an ideal house dog for any family. Please contact her foster, Ram at CAPdogfoster@gmail.com or 281-202-9076 to get more details or to meet her. More about this shelter

Citizens For Animal Protection, founded in 1972, is committed to sheltering, rescuing, and placing homeless animals in loving homes; advocating respect and compassion for all animal life; providing humane education to prevent animal cruelty; and raising awareness in the community of the needs of animals.

CAP is proud to announce that through life-saving adoption and transfer programs and a lot of hard work, we have maintained a placement rate of over 93% for all homeless pets surrendered to our shelter in 2021. In 2021, CAP provided care for 10,260 animals; this includes animals surrendered by the public and transferred in from animal control agencies and rescue groups, animals already in the shelter and foster care program, feral cats trapped/neutered/returned and animals receiving vaccinations and other treatments in our low-cost vaccination clinic, The Cornelius Clinic.
