Take the Pet Home
This helps Loved At Last Dog Rescue with pet care costs.
Happy day. My name is MINT (Nana) and below is some info about me:
Breed: Shepard mix
Age: 1-1/2 yrs
Gender: Female
Weight: ~14 kg
Country of origin: Middle East
Highlights: intelligent, social, friendly, alpha, playful
In my country Nana means "Mint" and it is a very popular herb. Since I am popular everywhere I go, they decided it was the perfect name for me.
On a snowy night almost two years ago, my rescuer was returning home when she saw a soft, cute little ball curled up in the cold behind her house. Upon closer look, she realized it was a puppy, me. So she brought me to her home. I act as like a comforting presence to my rescuer, thus she hopes to find me a loving family.
As a puppy, my fur was black, but as I grew, it turned brown and golden. I have a long, athletic body, a beautiful fox-like tail, delicate light-golden paws, a black muzzle, and brown eyes, which enhance my beauty several times over.
I am a social dog, friendly, and love interacting with everyone, but also wanting others to respect me. At first encounter, I might be hesitant, but quickly warm up and love to play. When I go out to play or walk with other dogs, I never get tired, unless the other dogs do not want to play or go for a walk, then I will gear down then. Kitties however, are not my thing.
I am incredibly intelligent and could probably easily learn talking buttons and commands (once I learn english.)
I quickly overcome my trepidation of unknown new things. Here's a funny for you. I used to be afraid of mirrors and would bark at my reflection, but after a few days, I enjoyed watching myself. Primpy girl, I guess. I have also overcome my fear of a vaccuum rather quickly. Just give me an easy intro with things and I am good to go.
I love baths and playing with water. If a family member takes a shower, I enter and sit in a corner where I can get wet, and watch others bathe. I'm so silly, but incredibly loving.
Energy Level: moderate-high
I get along with:
Dogs: Yes, no strong alphas best
Cats: No
Children: unknown. Rescuer states yes, but no video available
Energy Level: Moderate-high
Fears: intially of new things, but fast recovery
Training:
Leash skills: very little. Please be prepared to train me.
House trained: yes. Please help me learn where to go in my new home.
Health notes:
Just my belly scar from spaying.
I have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated and will soon be microchipped.
My adoption fee is $800.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. While our rescuers always seek a flight without a charge, there is the possibility of a passenger fee, not to exceed $300.
Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.
Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.
Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.
Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website.
The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.
Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live.
While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. You will NOT be asked to pay a passenger fee on top of the cargo fee.
[MID-EAST] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East.
[TURKEY] Dogs from Turkey receive a 4D SNAP test to include Leishmania, Heartworm, Ehrlichia, & Anaplasma, as well as Giardia, Parvo, Corona & Distemper.

As adopters of overseas dogs will be taking their dog home from the airport, they have a couple of weeks to decide if the dog is a fit.
