My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pinky is an affectionate, beautiful Lab mix puppy who is ready for the loving forever home she so deeply deserves.

Her story began when she was found sitting alone on the side of a road with a badly broken leg. What happened to her before that moment is unknown, but one thing is certain—she didn’t give up. When a kind stranger stopped to help, one of our fosters happened to drive by and knew the shelter was no place for an injured puppy.
Pinky was scooped up and taken straight to the vet, where her leg was placed in a splint and she was prescribed several weeks of strict crate rest to heal.

Despite her injury and limited activity, Pinky’s sweet personality shines through. She adores belly rubs, enjoys chewing on her antlers, and has been a very good girl in her crate—even though she’d much rather be running and playing. She has had no accidents in her kennel and will let you know with a loud, clear whine when she needs to go potty.
She also rides nicely in the car for her vet visits and has no issues with motion sickness.

For a young puppy, Pinky is surprisingly calm, which has been a blessing during her recovery. She currently goes outside only on leash for bathroom breaks, but the good news is that her leg appears to be healing well.
Another X-ray is coming up soon to check her progress, and everyone is hopeful she’ll soon be cleared to live the playful, carefree puppy life she was meant to have.

Pinky has already shown incredible resilience and so much love.
Now all she needs is a family to cheer her on as she finishes healing and grows into the happy, playful companion she’s destined to be.
Let’s find this precious girl the wonderful home she’s been waiting for.

ATTENTION PUPPY ADOPTERS:  You must attend training/behavior classes with your new dog unless you are an experienced dog owner and your adoption coordinator is comfortable with your experience.  This requirement is for the benefit of you and your puppy, so if you experience behavior issues, you have a point of contact.

PLEASE—Think long and hard before adopting a puppy. Consider the lifestyle change this puppy will come with. He cannot be crated for more than 3-4 hours until he's older. Puppy-proofing your home will be necessary. Puppies scratch and nip, so if you have small children, can they handle this? Training will be so crucial in this puppy's life. Do you have the time?

More about this rescue

PAWS is comprised of a small group of volunteers from New England and Tennessee trying to reduce the euthanization rate (previously 90%) at the Tipton County Animal Control shelter in Brighton, Tennessee. This shelter is forced to euthanize thousands of animals each year due to irresponsible pet owners that do not spay/ neuter their dogs in the area. Millions of dogs in America are euthanized each year due to lack of space and lack of funding to try and find them better homes.

Our mission is to save as many animals as possible, removing them from the shelter, having their veterinary needs met prior to traveling and then finding them loving homes throughout New England. We do this only with the assistance of many people volunteering their time by going to the shelter, transporting the dogs to the vet, fostering dogs who need special care, and arranging for their new and happy homes in this area. Most importantly, we cannot do any of this without those people willing to open their homes and hearts to these lovely creatures.
