My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I’m Sylvester. I’m a gentle, shy soul who’s looking for a calm and patient home. I came to the shelter as an owner surrender, and while change can be a little scary for me, I have a very sweet side once I start to feel safe. I may be timid at first, but give me some time and a few gentle head scratches, and I’ll reward you with happy purrs. I’ve lived my whole life indoors in a busy household with a family of six and two other cats. I did well with my feline friends — we slept near each other, played, groomed, and generally got along peacefully, even if there were the occasional harmless disagreements. I’ve never lived with dogs. Because I wasn’t spayed in my previous home, I had some inconsistent litter box habits. Now I`m spayed and with proper care, routine, and understanding, I’m ready to do better and start fresh. I can be shy and fearful around children, so a quiet, low-traffic home would be best for me. If you’re someone who believes in going slow, offering kindness, and letting trust grow naturally, I’d love the chance to become your soft, purring companion.

The Windsor/Essex County Humane Society was founded in 1926 and incorporated in 1949. The Humane Society has a publicly-tendered contract with the City of Windsor to provide animal control and basic shelter services in the City.
