My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Nika was brought in by a community member on 1/7/2026.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Nika is a sweet senior cat looking for a loving home where she can spend her golden years. With her mature and gentle personality, she is a wonderful choice for anyone seeking a calm and affectionate companion. As a senior, Nika appreciates the quieter side of life and would thrive in a peaceful environment. She is ready to bring a soft, steady presence to a household that can offer her plenty of cozy spots to nap and a family to call her own.

At SDHS:
Nika has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. Nika is now ready for her new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
