My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Houdini is an 8-month-old neutered male Shepherd/Retriever mix who is equal parts gentle giant, goofy goober, and total sweetheart. With his tan and light brown coat and lovable personality, he’s the kind of dog that makes you smile without even trying.

Houdini may have more beauty than brains, but honestly—that just makes him even more charming. He’s a happy, lovable boy who enjoys life and the people around him. When meeting other dogs, he can be a little shy at first, but give him a moment and he warms up quickly into a friendly, playful companion. Meet and greets are required if there are other dogs in the home to make sure everyone is a good match.

He’s still working on leash training and basic commands, so a patient family ready to help him learn will be a great fit. The good news? He’s believed to be potty trained, which gives him a great head start in a home environment.

If you’re looking for a sweet, goofy, gentle soul who’s ready to grow into the best version of himself with love and guidance, Houdini might just be your perfect match. Come meet this lovable boy and let him work his magic on your heart!

More about this shelter

The Colony Animal Services strives to protect andTCAS LOGO-UPDATED nurture The City of The Colony’s lost, homeless, abused, injured, and sick pets. We seek to provide animals the opportunity to be reclaimed, adopted, rehabilitated, or rescued. It is the mission for the Animal Service Officers and volunteers to pursue a positive synergy and to serve the citizens and pets of The Colony.

Animal Services is committed to saving each and every animal that comes into our care. Over the last few years, we have improved our live release rate to 97%. We hold our standards high at keeping this percentage, and in doing so, we ask our rescue partners and citizens to help us pursue finding our animals forever homes.

Every year, we get over a hundred injured and sick animals that need our help. In order for us to help them, we use our donated medical fund to give them the proper care and treatment they need. The only way for us to provide this needed medical care is through our generous financial donors. Every penny donated is sent to our medical fund. Please help us continue this much needed medical care for our animals by donating. Even if you cannot donate, it is a huge help to share posts on social media.
