My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Shelby 👵🏻💜

Shelby is a senior lady looking for a calm, relaxed home where she can spend her days napping, getting pets, and baking in the sun. She’s a 10+ year old 22lb mystery breed. Guesses include mixes of Terrier, Shepherd, Akita, Shiba, and Chihuahua. She’s a Heinz 57!

Shelby has done well with dogs and cats in her foster home, so long as they respect her space while she is eating or sleeping on her bed. As a senior girl, her vision and hearing aren’t the best, so she prefers slow introductions and lower energy friends. For this reason, she needs a home without small children.

Shelby takes a couple days to warm up to new people, but once you earn her trust, she becomes a marshmallow. Despite her age, she is quite the character and will let you know exactly what she wants. It’s usually attention, dinner, or her favorite… going outside! This girl loooves spending her time outside laying in the sun and listening o the birds. Shelby would LOVE a home with a yard, or at least a readily accessible patio where she can spend nice afternoons.

Additional adoption info

Please visit www.hopeanimals.org/adopt to learn more about our adoption process and to complete an adoption application.

Adoption Fee includes spay/neuter*, microchipping, up-to-date vaccinations, and current heartworm and flea/tick preventatives.

*If pet is not old enough to be spayed or neutered prior to adoption, a $50.00 credit will be paid to your vet at the time of surgery.

We require a veterinary reference for current pet owners, and pets must be up to date on vaccines and heartworm preventative. We meet potential adopters in their homes and introduce the pets to the family's current pets to see if it is a good match. A copy of our adoption contract can be requested via email.
