Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Welcome back to rescue Mia!
Mia, affectionately known as "Pork Chop", finds herself back into rescue for the second time. Originally ARM got her in 2022 when she was found as a stray. When she was listed on Petfinder, her owner contacted us and said that she had been looking for her for months. The decision was made to return the dog to her as it seemed that there was a connection between Mia and the family.
A few weeks ago, we got a call from Home Again (Thank goodness for microchips!) that a dog with one of our microchips had been found laying alive, exhausted in the middle of a busy road. A kind woman rescued her, brought her to a local vet to check for a chip and took her home to keep her safe.
Mia came to rescue filthy and full of mats. She also has ballooned from 50 to 87 pounds. Other than desperately needing to lose weight, Mia is an otherwise healthy and happy 5 year old black & brown Aussie mix. She is spayed and has been brought up to date on her shots.
Mia is crate trained and is housebroken. Her fosters are now working to help her lose weight. Mia has gotten along with the resident dog and adores attention from people. It is not known on how well she does with kids, so we currently are recommending older children until we have opportunities to test her against younger children.
We don't want to require a fence for Mia as she really does love her people amd wants to be with them. However, prospective families need to be able to show how they will keep her safe until reliable recall has been established.
The details:
Needs fence: Not currently required, but established recall before having her off lead is highly recommended
Good with dogs: Yes
Good with cats: Unknown
Good with kids: Age 10 and older
All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. We need an approved application on file to set up a meeting with a dog you might be interested in. You can find our application at www.aussierescuemn.com. All dogs have an adoption fee of $400 plus MN sales tax. We pride ourselves on matches that are awesome for both the dog and your family. Aussie Rescue of MN is here for support, advice and as a safety net for our dogs for the rest of their lives.
