Mae came to us in mid-January after wandering up as a stray — thin, tired, and clearly having recently had puppies. We don’t know what her life looked like before she found help, but we know exactly who she is now: gentle, grateful, and deeply loving in the quiet, steady way of a dog who has had to be strong for far too long.
Appearing to be a Lab and Shepherd mix, Mae has a warm, expressive face and a naturally loyal, people-oriented temperament. From the moment she arrived, she has shown nothing but sweetness. She leans in softly for affection, meets your eyes with a hopeful look, and then rolls over for belly rubs. When she feels safe, she breaks into the biggest smile.
Mae has wonderful manners. She knows how to sit, is crate trained, and is fully house trained. She is calm, easy to handle, and easy to be around — the kind of dog whose presence makes a home feel peaceful. While she can sometimes be a little slow to approach new dog friends, once she’s comfortable she happily play bows and prances about, clearly enjoying canine companionship.
At an estimated 7 years old, Mae is past the chaos of puppyhood but still enjoys walks, time outside, and simply being part of a family. She is ready for a place where she can finally rest and be someone’s dog, not someone who has to fend for herself.
Mae is the kind of companion who fits naturally into a home and quietly makes everything feel softer.
