My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This 6-month-old puppy is truly something special. When he first came to us, Jett was terrified of human touch, so much so that even gentle pets felt overwhelming. With time, patience, and a whole lot of love, he spent 12 days quietly observing from his foster home before finally coming out of his shell. Since then, hes been blossoming more and more every day. Once Jett trusts you, he becomes your little shadow. He bonds quickly with other dogs and gains confidence from them, so were looking for a home with another friendly dog who can help guide him and show him the ropes. Jett has a silly, joyful puppy personality. He loves backyard zoomies and is incredibly sweet. He adores other dogs, happily following them around, licking their ears, and occasionally stealing a toy or two. Hes mostly potty trained, though like many rescue dogs, a brief regression is normal when adjusting to a new environment. What he needs most is a home willing to give him time and patience, so he can fully understand that hes finally safe and home. He does well with cats, largely ignoring them, and has met kids. We believe hed thrive best with older children who can respect his space as he continues to build confidence. Due to his temperament, we don't think he should fly out of state for adoption. He's neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

After an application is received, we will reach out to schedule an interview. If the applicant is a renter, we will require landlord approval. If the applicant has a yard, we will require a digital walkthrough of the fence line. Once approved, the adopter is eligible to connect with the foster of the dog they're interested in for a meet and greet. If all goes well, the adopter can take the dog home!

More about this rescue

Bay Area Pug Project (BAPP) is more than just a rescue - it’s a movement.

California suffers from a backyard breeding epidemic, and pugs are sadly one of the outputs. Pug rescues across the nation come to our state to save pugs from unsafe, unwanted, and undesirable situations, and there can never be enough help to tackle this crisis.

Founded by a group of experienced and passionate volunteers, BAPP was born from a shared love of pugs and a desire to build a strong, informed community around the breed. We believe that true rescue goes beyond saving dogs—it means educating the public, advocating for responsible ownership, and collaborating with other groups for maximum impact.

We’re dedicated to supporting brachycephalic breed enthusiasts and the communities where neglect or limited education are common, offering resources and guidance to promote better care and health outcomes.

Pugs are more than cute snorts and curly tails—they’re complex little souls who deserve to be understood and cared for by informed and pug-obsessed homes like ours. Join us in making a difference.
