History: Chase needed a second chance at a good life and arrived to rescue with the help of Lightshine Rescue whose efforts are focused on a rural reservation in South Dakota where resources are low.
A Note from the Foster: Chase is an 8-month-old, 27 pound, Lab mix with a heart full of love and a brain full of smarts! This sweet pup has settled in beautifully and is already showing what an amazing companion he’ll be.
Chase loves people and kids (kids ages 6 and 11 in current foster home) and gets along wonderfully with our older, dominant female dog. He’s happiest when he’s with his humans, but he’ll go into his kennel with a little help and settles down quickly after a few minutes. At night, he’s a dream—he’ll sleep soundly in his kennel or on a bed (though if he could choose, he’d probably pick snuggling up with you!).
He’s already learning great habits, like whining at the back door when he needs to go outside. Chase is toy-obsessed and is starting to understand the difference between his toys and not toys, what a smart boy!
While he’s still working on leash skills and basic commands like “sit,” he’s very food-motivated (but never food-aggressive), which makes training fun and easy. He handled his bath and nail trim like a champ, too!
Chase is playful, affectionate, and eager to learn. He’s truly a gem and will make a fantastic addition to any loving home.
