History: Our Out of the Cold Rescue Effort was a great success in welcoming over 180+ animals to rescue from rural areas in North Dakota before the cold set in. We continue to help over the winter months of dogs needing help out of the cold!
A Note from the Foster: Who is ready for a silly, cute, playful, active boy?
Panther (aka Bodey Boy / knucklehead) is a happy-go-lucky guy who’s good on a leash, loves belly & under ear rubs, is food motivated, and loves to play!
He’s like a puppy in the body of a 1-yr old adorable flat-coated Retriever mix. Panther likes to jump in your lap, lean in to get cuddles. He kennels when it’s baited with treats and chew toys. He only whines slightly when left to sleep in his crate at night. Panther is toilet-trained without a single accident! He will do best in a home with exercise & daily play. He may like a big brother/sister to play with. Panther easily strides along when a human jogs. He sometimes pulls a bit on a leash or occasionally tries to chew on it. Panther gets excited about squirrels when walking on the woods, so be ready for that excitement. He does well with middle schoolers but has not been around younger kids yet. I suspect he’ll love them and needs reminders to stay down. Panther is slow to warm up to men, but treats and patience helps.
Panther is working on not jumping up hug his favorite people. He is working on chewing on appropriate things, and avoiding counter surfing. He eats in a slow feeder, so that he remembers to chew. Food is so yummy!
Kongs, bones, nylabones, big stuffy toys, food puzzle toys, and braided towels for tug-of-war are big hits!
Panther loves to play with a neighbor male dog friend, an energetic 3-yr old setter mix in a fenced yard. He has not been off leash with females yet, as he gets neutered on 2/18. Indoor hallway fetch is - fun game, too!
He has some dry skin that we’re working on with the vet.
