My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Al - the Alien

This sweet boy, is extremely fearful. He came from a home with over 30 dogs and doesn't know how great people are! He will need a quiet home that can help teach him new things slowly. He seems to be good with other dogs, however he will need a slow introduction. Al is not yet leash or potty trained and will therefore need to learn all those basics.

He is very food motivated and with some time and love, he will adjust to having people around. He is still quite young and we do not know his breed. There were a range of sizes from this home that range from a medium to a large size dog such as a cane corso which means we have no assurances as to how big he will get.

He will need lots of patience, but he is sure to love anyone who makes him a part of their family. He has warmed up quickly to Staff just as long as lots of treats are provided. Once Al learns that humans give love, comfort and security, he will no doubt become a treasured member of your family.

He has just recently been neutered, so will need some time to settle and stay calm with his cone, while he heals.

If you would like to give this handsome man a loving home that where he can learn to trust, please come and meet him!

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
